West Gate Community College won silver at the Sky Living for Sport Partnership awards in London!
The prize was awarded for a project involving year 8 students from Westgate College delivering a Disc Sports in a local primary school. Chris O'Brien and Paul Donaghy (SSCo at West Gate Community College, Newcastle) travelled down to London yesterday with two of the students; Craig and Navied to meet Olympic gold medalist Darren Campbell and collect the award and a cheque for £2,500 for the College. At the awards Darren gave an inspiring speech about his journey to success. Darren is the ambassador for the Youth Sport Trust and is very passionate about encouraging young people to go for their dreams and never be afraid to make mistakes because that's where the real learning takes place!

After the awards Chris, Paul and the lads went on a whistle-stop tour of London to play some disc around the capital.
