Outcomes from the Courses:

'The Ultimate word is spreading and the children are loving it! I have now been in to 5 schools and run clubs and I am hoping to have a festival in the new year. I will send photos!!'

Jo Braithwaite, PDM
Brooksbank School Sport Partnership, Halifax

‘The ‘Catch the Spirit’ training was great and the discs are excellent quality and the children find them easy to use. This term, year 6 played Frisbee® in P.E. lessons and after schools club sessions. Children enjoyed every lesson and all remembered their P.E. kits (which is a first!). At the after school club, 20 take part and we have a waiting list of 12. Parents think its great offering something different in P.E. and clubs. We will definitely be introducing Frisbee® to yrs 3, 4 and 5 next term. I think it’s excellent for P.E. lessons as all the children are involved and thoroughly enjoy joining in. What’s more, it’s a sport where boys and girls are equally matched.’

John Rutter, PE Teacher
Wingrove Primary School, Newcastle upon Tyne

'The club's going really well. I've regularly got about 20-25ish after school and just a little less at lunch times. We've mastered some basic skills although have been battling against the elements in recent practices. We created a new game last week - Frisbee Rounders, which the children picked up really well and seemed to enjoy.'

  Rachael Redhead, Teacher

Newminster Middle School, Northumberland

'Thanks for the course, got some good positive feedback from the people attending. Things going really well with the disc golf, introduced it to both year groups in KS4 with some positive results. Taking it into another secondary in the partnerhsip later this month.'

Stephen Field, SSCo

Balby High School, Yorkshire

‘As School Sport Coordinator for the west end of Newcastle my role is to promote all types of sport within the primary and secondary schools in our local area. Having attended an excellent and energetic staff inset on Ultimate earlier this year we decided to incorporate the game into our lunchtime clubs at West Gate Community College. Every Friday lunch break a league is organised in the sports hall, pupils make up a team of 5 and play against other teams. Points are awarded for winning matches and a league table is published weekly. Ultimate is also being used within curriculum time as an alternative invasion game. I have recommended Chris to all my feeder primary schools and have had lots of positive feedback about the sessions in school. This month we organised our SSCo Games festival and had over 250 Year 6 pupils playing Rugby, Football, Cricket and for the first time ever - Frisbee®. It was a fantastic success and we hope to repeat the venture again in the Summer Term.’

Paul Donaghy, School Sport Coordinator
West Gate Community College, Newcastle upon Tyne

'Frisbee® offers fresh alternatives that engage a wider range of pupils who may not necessarily be engaged by traditional team sports. The fair play and self officiating ethos of Ultimate is a very good tool to use to teach sportsmanship and fair play to pupils… and most importantly of all, it’s FUN!'
