Playing Frisbee the Catch the Spirit way is amazing fun for all ages and levels of ability! Here’s some further information about our Frisbee training course.

INTRODUCTION TO DISC SPORTS

This course is a powerful skills program designed for PE staff, sports coaches and young leaders. It is a practical session that enables participants to ‘learn by doing’. The content and delivery style is tailored for key stage 1 & 2 or 3 & 4, Special Schools and Further Education contexts.

The activities can be played all year round, indoor or outdoor, in out of school clubs, sports festivals, and as part of the P.E. curriculum key stages 1 to 5.

Participants will learn:

  • Fundamental throwing and catching techniques, advanced disc flight control and team-play skills.

  • Simplified coaching points for effective skills transfer to children and students.

  • How to play a range of fun and dynamic progressive disc activities including exciting throw and catch games, target games, individual and team challenges, flow drills, Field Events, Disc Golf, Ultimate and other official Disc Sports that can be adapted for beginner groups.

  • Which discs to use for a given situation, activity and ability.

Now in it’s 4th year, this course is engineered so that participants experience an enlightening journey into the world of Frisbee. The structured learning process throughout installs the key skills and concepts needed to play the classic invasion game Ultimate Frisbee. This is the focus of the final portion of the course, where the rules are explained together with introductory-level approaches and techniques for offence and defensive play. We then launch into a game to bring all the learning from the course together. Variations are also introduced to help make the game more inclusive and accessible for younger children and hard-to-reach groups.
